How often do I need to come? The answer to that is as individualized as our patients are. No two people are the same and the frequency will depend entirely on your health goals, individual condition and what you are willing to invest in care both time and financially. Your chiropractor will recommend what he believes, based on your assessment results and his experience, is IDEAL for the best outcomes...it is then up to you to take that information and newly acquired knowledge and decide what will work best for your individual goals & needs. Chiropractic is much like going to the gym. The more consistent you are, the more results you will see...However, it is NOT an all or nothing approach here. We see patients in every stage of care from acute to more wellness/maintenance care...we will meet you where you're at. Patients will be discharged after 12 months without an appointment and will require a new Initial Assessment ($100) if they wish to return after 12 months time

What is the cracking sound?Nothing is being cracked we promise! The noise you hear is gas being released from the joints...the same as when someone "cracks" their knuckles. The sound is louder the closer the adjustment is to your ears so an upper cervical adjustment will often times appear to be louder than a lower lumbar adjustment. Not all adjustments will have an audible sound

Is chiropractic safe for newborns/kids?ABSOLUTELY and very much encouraged! Kids respond very well to chiropractic care and it can help with many issues that children encounter. POSTURE being a big one! Newborns right to teenagers can benefit greatly from adjustments. Techniques used on newborns are NOT the same as adults and adjusting methods can be "adjusted" (no pun intended) to meet your child where they are at in terms of individual goals, needs and comfort levels We office Complimentary Newborn Checks. We strongly believe that it is so important for our tiny humans to get a good start to life!! Our chiropractor is the father of 6 children, so has experienced first hand the benefits of administering chiropractic care to newborns (& kids too!). * Your newborn’s spine, neck, hips, and reflexes will all be checked and, only if one is required (and wanted), an adjustment will be given. If you have any questions at all...just ask us!

Will I be sore after my adjustment?Just like when you go to the gym and work muscles you haven't used in a long time, we will be moving things that may not have been moved/used in a while so you may experience some mild soreness...you should never experience pain (above what pain you have already experiencing). If you are sore please do the following: APPLY HEAT to the area DRINK LOTS of water KEEP MOVING...movement is life so the move blood flow you can get to the area the better. Post adjustment soreness should ease off after the first few adjustments...but if you are ever concerned or have questions about how you are feeling, please let us know!
-
Is there anything I shouldn't do after an adjustment?Every case is different so be sure to ask your chiropractor on your individual case but MOVEMENT IS LIFE, so your normal activities are encouraged, but LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!
-
What should I expect during my first visit? We have devoted a whole section on our website to this! Please click "New Patient Welcome Centre" tab above
-
What should I expect during my adjustment?Once you arrive we will let you know which room is ready for you. We have "1" & "2" posted outside the rooms so will direct you to the right room. Once there, you can lie face UP on the adjusting table (if it's more comfortable to sit, please do so) The chiropractor will ask you if there is anything new or anything he needs to know...he will palpate your spine in different areas to determine where the adjustments are needed and depending on your individual needs, will use adjusting techniques that will best suit your body. There are lots of different adjusting techniques that can be used so if what is performed is not your preference, please speak up and let your chiropractor know...communication is KEY to success!
-
Can I be adjusted while pregnant?ABSOLUTELY and we highly recommend it! Not only can routine chiropractic care help manage pain in your back, hips, and joints, it can also establish pelvic balance, which can provide your baby with as much space as possible over the course of your pregnancy. If in doubt come on in for a free consult and ask any questions that will make you know if chiropractic care during pregnancy is the right fit for you!

What does SUBLUXATION mean?Short for Vertebral Subluxation Complex, subluxation is a term used in chiropractic care to refer to a misalignment of the spine or a joint. When joints (in your spine and elsewhere) lose their normal motion or position, it can cause pain, reduce mobility, and interfere with the body’s normal functioning. Most times you are not even aware that there is a subluxation but over time it will affect your bodies ability to function and move properly.
-
What does PROPRIOCEPTION mean?Proprioception refers to the sense of limb position and movement. Proprioception is critical for proper balance and motor control. Proprioception is one of the things we test for in our initial assessments.
-
What does IFC mean?IFC is short for Interferential Current. It is a therapy that uses a medium frequency alternating current therapy that can reach deeper into the tissues to relax muscles, stimulate blood flow & increase metabolism to the targeted area. It is one of the alternative and complimentary tools we have in our kit to help those with acute injuries or where indicated. In our office, when indicated, IFC is used in conjunction with therapeutic heat prior to getting your adjustment.
-
What are MODALITITESWe use a couple of different "modalities", which is really just a fancy word for treatments, in our office... IFC - Interferential Current and Hydrocollator (Heat) are the 2 most frequent modalities used.
